AHV/ALV for one-off job. Non-resident

Hello, I'd be grateful if anyone could help me with the following:

I'm a musician from the UK, and have performed a few one-off gigs in Switzerland. I do not live here, and most of my work is elsewhere - in the UK and occasionally other European countries. For an upcoming performance, a Swiss hotel has informed me that they need to register me for AHV/ALV, and give me an AHV card, and that this applies to anyone who works even for just one day in Switzerland.

I am aware that withholding tax should be applied, but was under the impression that AHV/ALV did not apply for a non-resident doing a one-off job such as this.

Could anybody clarify this for me?

Many thanks in advance.

For single day non-recurring gigs, it's possible to not have deductions. Even if you live in CH, if total earning is below about 2500 CHF.

Many thanks for this info and the quick response! Do you know if I have to actively do anything (fill in any forms etc) to not have the AHV/ALV deducted, or should that be the default situation?

Thanks again.

For those engaged in artistic/ cultural activities as well as domestic employees, the CHF 2'300 threshold does not apply, i.e., the 1st CHF of income is subject to Swiss social security deductions. See this SVA Zurich link for details (German):
