Using my UK Ltd Company to contract in Switzerland

Good day everyone,

I have a UK Ltd company that I have been using to provide contract computer programming services in the UK. I am the sole director and shareholder of the company. I have been offered an opportunity to work with a Swiss company based in Basel. I would be required on-site at my client in Switzerland for 1 week per calendar month. The work requires me to write software modules on a monthly basis. The 1 week on-site would be used to integrate into their systems and provide support and training about the modules new features in addition to planning future modules. The actual programming work would take place within the UK with a mixture of local development at my own office and remotely into their software servers. The client wishes me to bill and be paid in CHF and would be over the 100K CHF annual threshold. I believe I do not require a work permit other than to notify online at least 8 days prior to my on-site work as I will spend less than 90 days total per year on Swiss soil.

So, my question/s are regarding the issue of Swiss VAT and UK/Swiss corporation tax. I have heard/read conflicting advice on VAT registration.

1) Do I need to register and charge for Swiss VAT?
2) Do I require a work permit?
3) Would my UK company be 'domiciled for tax' in Switzerland or UK?
4) Would my UK company be required to pay Swiss corporation tax?
5) Would I be subject to double-taxation of both UK and Swiss corporation tax?
6) Would I need to have a Swiss accountant in addition to a UK one?
7) Would I require an additional bank account to accept CHF?

I appreciate that I have asked a number of questions. But any help/advice/info would be most welcome and useful for discussions with my client and an accountant.

Yours, Wolfgang
