What does this mean?!

Hello Forum

Sent recently an email to info@verbindungsstelle.ch
asking about recovering my AHV and got the following answer in English.

Gramatically, all good, but I just do not understand what it means.

For the record, I cashed out my 2nd Pillar some time ago, my question was more towards cashing my AHV. Am a EU national living in Singapore.

Any advice what the below means?

Thanks!

Dear XXX

The provisions limiting the cash payment of occupational benefit credit balances on permanent departure from Switzerland with effect from 1 June 2007 are applicable only if the person concerned moves to an EU or EFTA Member State.

As you moved to Japan and therefore not to an EU or EFTA State, the cash payment of occupational benefit credit balances remains possible without clarifying liability for compulsory social insurance, pursuant to the provisions which were applicable prior to 1 June 2007.

Please contact the account-keeping establishment directly for details of the cash payment arrangements.

I hope that this information may be useful to you and eventually also to the account-keeping establishment.

Kind regards

Re: What does this mean?!

The Verbindungsstelle is part of Pillar 2/Pensionskasse/BVG/Occupational benefit. They won't answer questions relating to Pillar 1/AHV/OASI and as you see they did not.

Regarding cashing in Pillar 1/AVH/OASI, but also Pillar 3/BVG/Occupational benefit/Pensionskasse/PP see:

tl,dr: Cashing in pillar 2 depends on your country of residence only, cashing in Pillar 1 depends on your nationality and country of residence. As an EU/EFTA citizen Pillar1/AHV cannot be cashed im.
