Potential taxation issues when moving to Switzerland

Hi all

We are a UK family of four. I am considering retiring from teaching within the next year. We currently work and reside in Hong Kong. I pay tax in the UK on rental income we receive there and my wife and I pay income tax in Hong Kong on our salaries.

As International School teachers, the "plan" is that my wife will continue teaching full time but in Switzerland, where she will rent a property, potentially around Lausanne or Geneva where a lot of potential employers are based and be resident along with our children. I will not be seeking gainful employment in Switzerland.

Instead, I am planning to purchase a property near Lake Geneva but in Haute Savoie, France, which will eventually be partially let out, as gte type accommodation but initially be my residence.

In terms of income, we would have income from rental property in the UK, my Teachers Pension, initially a lump sum and then a monthly income as of January 2020, in addition to my wife's salary in Switzerland. In terms of wealth we would simply have one property in the UK and the new property in France.

I have gone through the respective guidance on being resident for tax purposes in both France and Switzerland but can't work out whether, we would be classed as French residents or Swiss residents and/or continue to pay income tax to the UK. Not to mention, whether what we are planning to do, is viable from a taxation point of view.

The main motive for the move, is so that my wife can continue her career in one of the many Swiss International Schools and I can retire with a purpose in France, not screw over the tax authorities in Switzerland, France or the UK!

Any advice would be gratefully received,
