Best way to exchange CHF to Euro

Dear Fellow expats,

Could you suggests the best ways to convert our CHF income in Switzerland into Euro currency with minimum fee to pay the bills, mortgage back home.
From my search on the forum, it seems that, we will need to pick an online banking account like Revolut, transfer wise.

I do some google search, top of the money transfer products are: XE transfer, HiFX, currency fair ..
https://www.top10moneytransfer.com/i...SAAEgITP_D_BwE

Has anyone experienced with these top products yet ?

Thank you.

why not try searching the EF pages?

I imagine you'll land here!

The most cost effective way is usually to use a proper broker and a trading account like Interactive Brokers, but there may be several days to complete end to end transaction using this method but with the best rate. If you need it quick revoult/transferwise might be the best option once set up.

Well if you have a bank here then use the bank. Does not take much brain work to figure that out!

I am assuming that you would like to send money from your CH CHF account to a IE based Euro account for bill payments.

Most of the transfer services do not require you to open another account anyplace. It is just a transfer from your CH account to a clearing account then to the destination account.

I posted the following the other day on another thread. It might be a solution for you since there are no transfer fees and just the small difference on the exchange rate. And they are Swiss based.

You might also want to have a look at a new CH company that has started in Geneva. They are registered under the CH FINMA. I saw them in a write-up the other day in 24Heures.

They have transfers into $US, ŁUK and Euros. They work on no transfer fees and a 0.45% margin on the exchange rate.

Revolut is a great product and I'm using it more and more.
However, your own bank should be able to open a Euro account very easily, but if you're only paying out, then just make the transfers directly from your CHF account and choose EUR as the currency. You'll then get a very good rate and reasonable charges depending on your bank. Raiffeisen charge me 1 euro for euro denominated transfers.

The Euro and the Swiss Frank are nearly 1 to 1. What does that mean? The Euro is weaker or the Frank is stronger?

I use Transferwise all the time. I tried Revolut but my money disappears for a random amount of time (2 or 3 more days than TW).

A cheaper alternative is to pay your bills with TW credit card. You get a better rate for your euros. I was able to pay everything except my mortgage with that card.
