| | VIAC thread deleted?
Hi All,
I've been debating putting some money into ETFs for a while, and in researching the collective wisdom of the board I came across VIAC as an option where I could benefit from the income tax reduction of a 3a while also not just have the money in a "normal" 3a earning negligible interest.
So I went away, did some more reading and was about to take the plunge and open an account to beat the year end cutoff for the annual 6000(ish)chf, but in coming back this week to see if there was any more mention of VIAC on the forum, it seems like the VIAC discussion thread has been deleted. Anyone know why please? If it's because something dodgy has become apparent with them, would like to know before I proceed!
Thanks!

Could have been merged with another thread. Do a Google.ch search for: englishforum.ch viac and see if it pops up there.

It was this one: https://www.englishforum.ch/finance-...ng-viac-2.html
And no, it does not seem to be merged.

Maybe this will help: https://viac.ch/en/strategies/
Seems to be just another 3a pension fund.

? | | | | | Because it was deleted
It discussed VIAC strategies, how to set up the portfolio, but also referral codes where shared. Maybe that was the reason. But why gut the whole thread instead removing the posts with the referral codes? | Quote: | | | | | If it's because something dodgy has become apparent with them, would like to know before I proceed! | | | | | No. Nothing dodgy is known. It is still one of the 3a fund offers with the lowest TER and high flexibility. https://www.ktipp.ch/artikel/d/viac-...ive-3a-sparer/
In September VIAC (Part of the WIR Bank) had 4600 customers. https://www.handelszeitung.ch/untern...boden-gefunden | The following 3 users would like to thank aSwissInTheUS for this useful post: | |

The thread is titled "New low-cost 3a offering: VIAC" (knowing the title may simplify finding it).

The complete link is: | Quote: | | | | [urlx]www.englishforum.ch/finance-banking-taxation/277642-new-low-cost-3a-offering-viac-7.html[/urlx] | | | | | I did get a fleeting glimpse of it in the cache of yandex.com https://hghltd.yandex.net/yandbtm?fm...194b19&keyno=0
Maybe the link still works for others.
The thread appears to have been used at the end for publishing "referral codes" mainly by users with a low number of posts e.g.:

I can only imagine that the user who started the thread was 'hard' deleted in the fallout following the recent alleged security breach, which would have the effect of totally removing the whole thread.
One more reason I always veer away from suggestions that we allow full user deletions as a more regular thing.

I saw that Viac is now offering free 'base protection' to include death. To get it, you can simply change in the app.
I'm wondering, is there a downside in choosing this? If not, why don't they just activate it automatically for everybody?
Ah. Apparently it's an either or. You can select death benefit or disability benefit.

New message from VIAC today: | Quote: | | | | 1. Standard strategies now with / without bonds
Until now, we have deliberately avoided the use of bonds in the low-risk part of our standard strategies. This was because the return after costs was negative in the low interest rate environment and last year's interest rate turnaround would have led to large losses. Thanks to the use of interest-bearing cash instead of bonds, we were able to avoid these losses. As we now face higher interest rates, an investment in bonds is profitable again. That is why VIAC now offers the standard strategies in two variations - with or without bonds. You can now specify in the details of the strategy selection whether you wish an implementation with cash or with bonds. Your existing strategy with cash will not automatically be changed to the strategy with bonds. Since bonds now yield more in the long term than interest on cash, a change can be worthwhile (you can find out how to do this here). Cash is still managed free of charge. | | | | | I really appreciated that VIAC avoided bonds (more than my pension provider who has forced me into negative real yields and now capital losses) and took a very sensible appraoch and now has reversed this decision at a sensible point in time.
