income from 2017 added to 2018 on ALV statement

It looks like I didn't include all income in 2017 tax return as the December column was empty on the 2017 ALV statement. However now I have received the statement for 2018 which include the December 2017.

Should I just declare the total amount from the 2018 form in 2018 tax return or should I correct somehow my 2017 taxes? What do the Swiss do?

Not Swiss but IŽd ask the Steueramt (tax office). They are very helpful

The December 2017 ALV payment is made in January 2018, so yes it goes on the 2018 statement and return.

Wow, that's the Swiss precision! So it's not when you have earned the money but when you have been actually paid
PS. I know, regarding the ALV to earn is not the right word but nothing better comes to my mind

When you get a bill on something that's tax deductible, it's the date on the bill that determines the tax period it's deductible against.

By the same logic the date you earned your salary (month's end, usually) should determine the applicable tax period.

The date of the payment determines it, and that is reflected in the statements for the tax authorities.

Same.

Apparently this is another issue that differs from Canton to Canton. It can be date of the bill, the payment deadline (end date of the Zahlungsfrist), or the date of the payment. In some Cantons you can even chose which date you want to use. See the colored part on the first page by BDO. The federal tax calculation will use the Cantonal method.
