Anyone deposit IRS tax refund check (w/ Swiss address) into Bank of America account?

Anyone deposit a check issued by the United States IRS (with Swiss address) into a Bank of America account using the mobile app? My BoA account has a US address on file. I do not want Bank of America to close my account if they see my Swiss address.

Or, should I just try and deposit the check into my Swiss bank account?

Thank you for your help.

If you try and deposit a US cheque in dollars into a Swiss bank account, be prepared to pay serious fees. Cheques haven't been used here for years and the bank discourage their use by charging massive fees.

Thank you for your reply. I suspected as much as I couldn't find a way to deposit a check using my Swiss bank's mobile app.

Re: Anyone deposit IRS tax refund check (w/ Swiss address) into Bank of America accou

Hi, I have just seen your post. It may be too late. But I'd like to share my experience.

My experience is not good with depositing check into a US bank account. I have an account with Bank of the West in California. I am not sure if it is the rule across all US banking sector.

1. All the letters that we mailed from Switzerland were kept at the bank. They never deposited our checks into our account. They never told us anything.

We thought the letter disappeared because the money never showed up. Later we found out that they would not deposit check with letter from Switzerland. So we mailed letter to our relative who lives in the US, with our Swiss returned address. The bank did not deposit the check into our bank account.

We now mail the check to our relatives in the US, using their return address and with US postage.

2. We wanted money transferred into our account in CH from our US bank account. We paid 150fr to Raiffeisen bank. It took about 5 weeks until we finally get the cash. We lost 9% of our money from that transaction (fees and exchange rate).

There was another occasion that we needed to transfer money here. We open a US denomination account with Raiffeisen. The rate is bad compared with other banks. But we can wait until the rate is good and exchange.

Yes, BTDT.

I currently have a check from my mother that I don't want to deposit as the fees would chey up 30% or so. Fortunately, my sister is coming to visit in April and will give me cash, and have my mother write one in her name.

And lets not even talk about Canadian checks, makes US checks look like a walk in the park. My daughter furtunately still has a US account and deposited there, as here it was basically impossible.
