Tax deduction on spouse's education?

Dear EFers,
I have a question regarding tax deduction for spouse's education cost, in canton de Vaud.
My wife is studying, and I'm paying for her tuition and also living cost, e.g. short apartment renting, transporting, etc.
I understand the tuition might be deductible,

what about living cost and transport? I didn't see anywhere I can put this, maybe under frais de garde 670? although it says childcare...

Thanks a lot.

Re: Tax deduction on spouse's education?

If your wife's tuition fee alone is less than the CHF 12,000 ceiling, you could add in the same Code 618 the other costs (transport, etc) necessarily incurred by her in obtaining the training. Send the tax authorities the appropriate supporting information, such as the distance from home to college.
Yes, Code 670 is only for children under the age of 14.

If her tuition is over 12,000 ceiling already, is it possible to deduct other cost e.g. transport as well?
thanks.

Since CHF 12,000 is the ceiling for this deduction, it is already reached if the tuition costs exceed that amount.

Re: Tax deduction on spouse's education?

Hello,

To add to this topic: my wife is currently unemployed and she took language courses this past year, which I paid for. Is this something that can be deducted in Basel-stadt?
I see a section for further education but wasn't sure how to enter it as it had to separate sections for costs (Kanton and bund) and I didn't know if need to put the same amount in each box?
