Instead of bank transfer, can I go to their bank and deposit into account?

If I need to pay someone for a good or service, can I use their bank or a branch and simply make the deposit directly into their account?

Example: I have an IBAN number that I know is from Raiffeisenbank. Can I make a no-fee deposit to the account from any Raiffeisenbank? Does it matter if I do NOT have an account with Raiffeisenbank?

I'm also curious if this might be true for other banks/branches or if there are associated fees for such "window" services.

Thanks

You can. But why would you? This is what people did last century...

I once deposited CHF 2.- at a UBS branch and it did not cost anything. I was not customer of UBS. This was done to have original payment receipt required for Indian passport renewal. So try asking at Raiffeisenbank branch.

h) Consular surcharge amount CHF 2.- is to be paid in Embassy's UBS AG, BUBENBERGPLATZ 3, POSTFACH, CH-3000, Bern Account No. 235-939899. 02K (IBAN No: CH 39 0023 5235 9398 9902 K) and original receipt attached to the application.
