Pillar 3 contributions when wife stops working

Hi all, my wife stopped working a cpl of years ago to have kids, but we each continued paying the max (c6,750chf/yr) into both pillar 3 accounts, especially since that's how the mortgage is amortized.

I just realized I'm not 100% sure whether the pillar 3 is only supposed to be for if you're employed, and the info I've researched is a bit vague. Anyone know anything about this?
