Without activity -- AVS etc..

So a while ago my wife did a little "paid hobby" arty classes for kids.. The income was low and not taxable but since we ticked the boxes and registered everything, she had to make AVS contributions, a fixed quarterly fee.

The activity stopped a year ago, we wrote the caisse de compensation AVS.. They said ok and the quarterly bills stopped.

They've since written a couple of times (i didn't see the first letters, wife filed them under don't understand) asking what is the current situation regards AVS, where is her income coming from, how is she supported etc?

Just wondering why they want to know.. Obviously she wasn't supporting herself before on a couple of thousand per year, we told them it was just a hobby and it had stopped.. Does it mean anything to my tax situation for example?

I assume that with her AVS number they can see that we're a family with my income / tax etc.

Re: Without activity -- AVS etc..

If you work and pay at least CHF 950 of AVS/year, she doesn't need to pay anything.

What now? Or even when she was "working" ?
She never did pay anything before and doesn't now.. Just wondering why they care what she's doing now..

Ok .. That's expected.. Cos it's what we did for the years before she worked, she only did this for a year or two.

I plan to simply write back to them telling the truth.. This was not an income, just a paid hobby, it's stopped, there is no more income.

I declared it on my tax return for the period and it made no difference .. So I don't really expect any change, just interested why they even care. Just for the record maybe.
