2nd pillar account withdrawl

Hello,

I lived in Switzerland between 2007 and 2011 and still have the following account open : Freizügigkeitskonto 2. Säule

The balance on the account is less than CHF 18k

I now live in Ireland as an Irish Citizen.

Am i eligible to withdraw the funds in this account before retirement ?

Thanks for any information.

Yes partially & potentially fully. Are you required to be insured in Ireland for an OAP?

Re: 2nd pillar account withdrawl

Thanks for the reply, I do not believe there is any insurance required for being an OAP in Ireland.

There is a state pension for OAP's and a private pension if applicable.

What type of firm should i contact to get more information ? Is it better to do it in the kanton i lived in previously ?

Thanks

Take a look at my thread. It's handled by the LOB guarantee fund in Bern, nothing to do with Kanton

Contact the entity that is holding your Freizügigkeitskonto. They have a set process to withdraw if you have left for another country.

Lots more detail in the thread that Fatmanfilms quoted.

Legislation is before the Dail so you'd want to be PDQ

They will automatically say you can only have the non mandatory part as leaving for the EU, they learnt it parrot fashion.

And unless the OP can react before the Irish parliament goes on the summer recess they will most likely be correct.

Excuse the ignorance but would the 'entity' be the bank in my case ?

The pension foundation where you told the company’s pension fund to park the cash when you left.
