Revolut and Apple Pay

Today Revolut informed me that they have established a link with Apple Pay. I have an iPhone, but have never used Apple Pay. Can anyone tell me what the advantages of it are?

I think the main thing it it allows you to store card and pay with the card via the phone (touch) even if your card isn't with you. So essentially it makes your card virtual.

That is at least how I understand it.

As for Revolut, I have it, but am not sure why I'd need that over any other card besides it being a debit card...but then the hassle is loading it with currency.

Thanks for the Apple Pay explanation. That's what I understood too, but didn't know if I was missing something.

As for Revolut, I wouldn't be without it. It gives mid market rate whilst travelling abroad with no fees attached. Also, if you buy something from a foreign website, it doesn't charge 1,5% of your final bill like other cards do. Its free... Charging it is super simple. I love it.

Pay by phone is really convenient.

I use Samsung Pay, and it's really nice as I don't have to search for my wallet. Saved me a couple of times I left my wallet at home or in the car as well.

Also, since you authenticate on the phone, you can pay any amount without having to input a PIN on the POS machine so it's true contactless and hassle-free

Re: Revolut and Apple Pay

To me the biggest advantage of Apple Pay is that your credit card details are never transmitted to the merchant by Apple. Rather than spread your details all over the retail / online world with purchases at different merchants only one business has them.

Now, you have to trust Apple, but I trust them a lot more than a mom and pop shop using paypal.
