Filing Taxes - pro rata and for which municipality?

Hello Forum,

I will be moving to Zürich for work within a month, my gross salary will be over 120kCHF/year - but obviously for this income year I will not reach that limit;
-Will I still be applicable to file taxes for 2019?
-If I first would stay temporarly and register in Zürich city and then move to a lower-tax municipality, which date is relevant for my taxation. I.e if I move before year-end, will I get the lower tax?

/Thanks

It's pro-rata and depends on where you live on 31 December, as well as whether you are Swiss or not, and if not the type of permit.

That is true if you move from one Swiss canton to any another and it is also true if you move within canton Zurich and or within most other cantons.

But be aware that another rule can apply if you move within a canton: Either where you lived at the beginning of the tax year (AI, GL, NW, and OW) or pro rata depending on days you stayed in each commune (FR and NE)

Check tax law of your canton what applies as some cantons are changing the rules. Zurich changed its law 2017.
