Did you have an option of getting a friend to sign the POA rather than a Treuhand?
Anyone living in CH is acceptable.

Re: Taxes on leaving Switzerland

I gave a friends address and got the Abmeldebestätigung today. Despite saying that I will leave on November 2, the lady at the desk insisted on putting November 1 as the "Wegzugsdatum" (leaving date) as I will not be in CH for a full 24 hours on November 2, which really shows the petty bureaucratic mindset of these people.

You might have done better with 31 October as you will need to pay health insurance for November.

Swica told me that my policy is cancelled as of 1 November so no need to pay for this month.
