Foreign currency - Moldova

I'm traveling to Moldova soon.
I'll arrive pretty late in the evening and I'm worried their currency exchange might be closed for the evening.

Does anyone know of a place where I can transfer currency here in Zurich - specifically into Moldova currency.

Thanks

The exchange rate might be unfavourable though.

Can you direct me to an ATM in Zurich that dispenses Moldovan currency.
Why can't people read the entire question before responding.

And rightly so. Even during the day, some "case de schimb" (foreign currency exchange brokers) can have a shortage of Lei or various foreign currencies.
Should you encounter this situation, always look for the bigger banks.

Sorry, can't translate it for you, but I summed it up above.

Ask your bank.

Rarely seen such a combination of aggressive style of posting, not being able to figure out any possible basic question and groaning everybody that doesn't give a 100% correct response.

Maybe some forum member can volunteer to join the OP on his trip and hold his hand?

..... no, but as soon as you are there you can find an ATM. If you need it here, order it from a bank....

Why pay more here when you easily can get it as soon as you are in the country?

Most of the foreign exchanges at ZH airport seem to be open until 22.30 (and there are loads of them) so you could see if you can get some Moldovan currency before you depart. Otherwise the ATM suggestion when you land isn't too terrible an idea, either.

Alternatively, see if you can exchange money when you check into your hotel, assuming your airport transfer will take credit card to get you there in the first place.

Helpful hint for YOU::::
1st) read question
-- AFTER reading question (and only AFTER), proceed to #2
2nd) if you have valuable information - respond
3rd) This is a big one -- if you do NOT have valuable response -- then don't respond.

Pretty simple,
NO need to waste your time or mine with responses that don't answer any questions.

And because I'm sure your not going to read this either, I'll re-post the QUESTION. This is the question that you should answer -- please don't answer a question I didn't ask - that's not helpful.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to have some local cash when arriving (particularly if you want to take a taxi from the airport)

Depending on where you arrive (airport?) you may find a 24h open exchange shop - rates will be atrocious but will get you something. ATMs are an option as well

You don't mean transfer, you mean cash exchange. Most likely have to order the currency in your bank, as this is quite rare in exchange shops.

Re: Foreign currency - Moldova

Most Swiss banks offer for their customers mail order for many foreign currencies. Sometimes it is mail order only. Delivery is usually next day.

PS: Check how much foreign and local currency you are allowed to bring in and out. Also be aware about the formalities, such as voluntarily declaration.

PPS: Looks like the SBB does not have MDL https://commerce.sbb.ch/en/sbb-chang...lieferung.html.

PPPS: Considering the import/export limits you might not find a Swiss source for MDL.

PPPPS: Get them at a local ATM and bring Euro and Dollar as a backup, as they seem to be widely accepted in Moldova.

This.

They can enter R. Moldova with max 10k euro (or their equivalent in Lei) in cash without declaring them.

http://www.airport.md/import-export-currency-ro/

OP,

Dandi was spot on. If I were you, I'd have a couple of hundred of chf exchanged into Lei before my arrival. You can make it even with just euro/dollars/francs, but I think it's fairer for everybody if you put some effort into this travelling.
Enjoy your trip.

Now that's an answer that's related to the question.

Does this help?

Or do you need more details, like how you get there when you are in the airport?

GREAT - This is GREAT information, now can you point me in the direction of an answer that does NOT include a plane or airport. Now do you understand why it's important to read/answer the question asked? NOW does it make sense.

Here's the question (again): Does anyone know of a place where I can transfer (exchange) currency here in Zurich - specifically into Moldova currency.
