If both parents work it is a needed expense otherwise it is just luxury.
No tax deductions for luxuries.
Socialism not only makes a single-earner family to pay taxes to subsidise a two-earner family bot also brainwashes so that people think it is normal.

Wouldn't socialism mean you are paying buttons for childcare because your taxes are so high, rather than the CHF 3000+ per child every month you pay here?

Re: single earner family ineligible for childcare tax deduction [Zurich]

Well as others have said, it seems logical to have it in case both parents work.

For OP or anyone else with a stay at home parent and wanting to achieve socialisation and play for young children as well as integration and language proficiency, there are indeed many play groups where parents attend with children and I believe most operate on a volunteer or very low cost basis. Some even offer to keep the children for a period of time. Thus, they are free or nearly no cost.

Alternatively, putting a child in daycare, even part time, achieves maybe also the same things and additionally also giving the stay at home parent a break but at a significant expense, and in other words not a necessity when there are other possibilities.

Can someone please give me the definition of preschool and their equivalent in the swiss educational system? I am a bit confused

I checked some of the links here but couldn't find anything.
https://www.englishforum.ch/educatio...itzerland.html

As far as I know there is

Kleinkindergarten (nursery school)
Kindergarten (kindergarten)
Primarschule (primary school)

I am not aware of any additional, compulsory steps in the swiss system.
Nursery school is not compulsory. It is pre-school.
