Dividend taxation for US citizens

Hello, for my 2018 taxes, I paid taxes on dividends earned on US stock investments both to IRS and Switzerland. I was wondering if I am doing something wrong as it amounts to double taxation at the moment and I would like to avoid that in the future, if possible.

My broker does not automatically withhold US taxes. I guess it is because I am a US citizen and it is a US based broker. Instead, I pay the taxes when I fill out my annual US and Swiss taxes.

Thanks for any tips.
