Two years for Tax Return Review and Refund?!?!?!?!

Ok, so our tax accountant has confirmed this, so its not really a questions, I just wanted to vent to others: How can it take two years to review tax returns and issue a bill or a refund?!?!

The lady in our tax office was shocked that I was shocked it could take this long.

That's it. Thanks for listening.

A friend of mine is waiting 8 years and still counting. But it's a very complicated case involving the inheritance of some money that apparently had been stolen by the person who died. I think the lawyers are still arguing about it.

I've worked for clients in both the UK and Ireland where it has taken even longer...

It's because they only work on tax returns between 3pm and 5pm every other Thursday. With a break for z'vieri, of course.

Really? I've always got my refunds there within the month, 6 weeks at a push.

Re: Two years for Tax Return Review and Refund?!?!?!?!

Took until mid 2019 for me to get my tax refund from 2016 tax year.

And cost far more in tax lawyer fees fighting the stupid arguments of the tax authorities plus providing the same info in 2 different formats, than I got back.

It takes how long it takes. Whoever said tax was fair?

Regards

Ian

Only 2 years, what do you want a rush job, Switzerland always seemed to take ages to do the simplest of jobs.
