Financial advisor France side of Basel

Hi,

I've just been been 'restructured out' of my Swiss company and at the age of 60 thought I might see what retirement looked like if structured my money differently.

I live in France and I am having trouble working out how to tell the alleged sharks from the good guys. I've asked a bunch of French people but I have had one recommendation only for a group who seemed to get panned on the internet.

Any recommendations anyone, please? I'm going to talk to my bank but I guess they have a portfolio of their own products to sell which might not be in my best interests.

Also - any advice on evaluating companies?

Finally I did a trawl though the forum but didn't find anything that was applicable to my situation - if anyone is aware of a link, I'd thank them for a redirection.

Many thanks in advance.
Cheers

Based on the collective experience on this forum in the past decade: All "independent" advisor seem to be having their preferred products as well with the difference that they are much worse than what a properly regulated bank would dare to sell to you.

I think perhaps EnglishForum.fr would be more helpful. Does your ex-employer not offer any assistance at all? One of my colleagues was restructured out - but his employer offered counselling and financial advice - all paid for.
