Quellensteuer (withholding tax) refunds

Hi fellow expats!

- I'm on EU B permit and full-time employed in Switzerland
- My only income is my salary which is below 120K CHF

However, I have some tax deductable expenses such as payments to family, interest, etc.

I've engaged with an accountant here who told me to request the regular tax forms to get a refund of overpaid withholding tax.

I have just received the regular tax forms and but also come across a form called "Application for employees subject to withholding tax on new assessment of withholding tax 2019".

Can you please tell me which one I should fill to declare "deductable expenses" and get a potential withholding tax refund?
(not guaranteed obviously; down to them to decide)

Re: Quellensteuer (withholding tax) refunds

Deductible expenses are on the main tax form. On the fourth page if I remember correctly.

All the other forms outside of the four page main form are annexes and should only be filled in if referred to from the main form, with the totals calculated then transferred into the main form.

I think there are some "pauschal" deductible sums that you do not need to specify or list, or even actually incur.
Things like transport and health costs and a couple of others I think.
It's only if your actual deductibles exceed that sum that you need to fill in an annexe form to specify them.

Hi

You received the regular tax forms from Wallisellen? If so, you need to complete them. Why you received them? No Idea. Maybe bc you earned more than 120K for the full year, maybe bc they know that you have wealth somewhere in the world.

Anyway. If they are asking for the regular forms, there must be any reason.

Cheers

Andreas

Re: Quellensteuer (withholding tax) refunds

The OP said he requested the forms.

This is a good enough reason for receiving them.

@amogles: these are 2 different forms; the ladder is for those on B Permit who want a correction of the Quellensteuer, most cases are the deduction of the pillar 3A contribution.

You should only go for a guaranteed ta refund, never a potential one. Have your accountant check the numbers to be sure (or do it yourself).
Quellensteuer is a good deal. If your deductibles are not massive, you may end up paying more than before. I had to do a regular tax declaration, and the provisional tax calculation at the end said my tax is 2K more than the quellensteuer that was already paid.
