Advice on US taxes

Hi,

Is there anyone that can advise me on filing my US taxes? Or does anyone know of the perfect site to explain everything? I am willing to pay something for the help but I am a mostly unpaid artist and part time nanny and my husband is a student and I really can't afford professional services.

I have been living in Switzerland for 10 years. I somehow managed to filed a US tax return in 2014 on my own (accurately) claiming ignorance for not having filed the previous 4 years. But the whole process was so stressful and took so much time that I have avoided it since then. I haven't filed any returns for the last 5 years! I can't claim ignorance any more, just anxiety and stupidity. Now I just want to take care of the problem.

Please, any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Advice on US taxes

Best is to get a low cost good accounting firm.

Give greenback a try: https://www.greenbacktaxservices.com/

More important is to declare your foreign (non US) bank accounts because the penalties are astronomical. These are better known as the FBARs.
Fortunately it can be done online: https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small...-accounts-fbar.

They even have instructions for late fillers: https://www.fincen.gov/filing-late

PS: Don't let the wording Financial Crimes intimidate you. Its only procedural.

Re: Advice on US taxes

Agree on FBAR. Easy to file (just entering bank account info) so you can do it less than 10 min.

If you are comfortable, H&B seems working fine for some. Good luck.
