Anyone use NEON as their bank?

Hey guys,

I'm moving to Switzerland next month, now at the stage of getting bank account to settle everything. When I was in London I used Monzo, which is an internet bank that I have really positive experience with.

In Swiss I found a bank called NEON, so I was wondering if anyone has experience with them? How was it? What other bank do you recommend? I need one for paying bills in Swiss, get my salary in and also transfer money back to my Swedish account, but that I think I can do with Transferwise so not very important.

Super thanks!

Re: Anyone use NEON as their bank?

to open a bank account here you will need to have first the swiss work permit completed. Based on my experience this takes at least 2-3 weeks after coming.
So until then you can use your account abroad.

for banking in Switerland think about choosing a bank which gives you the complete package: debit card, credit card/cards, ebanking etc
also choosing some well-known bank will ensure you have customer service to rely on.

there are hundreds of banks, starting with Postfinance, UBS, CS and so on

I also have a Monzo account so I know what you are looking for. I have not found it yet here in Switzerland, Neon seems to be trying but there have been a few negative reviews. You will need a normal Bank account though here, I can recommend UBS Individual account because itís free for 1yr usually. Then when you get paid use TransferWise to Top up your Monzo, Swedish account or if you want euros then N26. Thatís what I do and have not found a way around paying lots of fees with a Swiss account.
N26 is in Switzerland but it has a German IBAN and is euro based so you canít use it for bill paying etc but it does have TransferWise built in like Monzo.

Thanks for the insight, isn't Monzo the best?!!

I don't think Revolut as a swiss IBAN, this is what make them less attractive for us.

You can also look at Zak, which is the online bank of Bank Cler - it’s free and has a Swiss IBAN. Comes with a Maestro and Mastercard. I have an account but not used it much yet, as I tend to use my Revolut more...

UBS opened my account before I got my visa. It was around 2 weeks before I got it I guess. But they were nice, gave me everything but told me that to have it all authorised etc that I had to provide the visa within a month I think otherwise it would be shut down.
