Tax declaration with partner working abroad

Dear all,

I am finishing the tax declaration for 2019 and I have a big doubt about the partner entries.

My wife lives and works abroad as a consultant (self-employed in Germany), so taxed there; when I fill the "Antrag auf Neuveranlagung der Quellensteuer" there are questions about her "bruttolohn" and "Quellensteuer- abzug".
I believe this should be empty because not calculated in CH anyhow, however I not sure if this in fact should be mention and the tax people re-evaluating the amount of taxes I pay here.

Many thanks to everyone.

your wife does earn any money here and she lives in germany, so why should she pay taxes here or you need to declare it ?

I think you mean does not? I thought spouses had no choice but to file a joint return and then use dual-taxation treaties to sort the mess. Plus wealth tax is on worldwide wealth.

Check with the tax office. Hubby lives in Germany, earns his money and is taxed there, still I need to add his income to mine for the tax bracket calculation. Good part is that I can also deduct a lot for him.

Strange as it sounds but it is handled that way in some Kantons.

Thank you all for your advise, even if @blackbird has a point, it seems that I should then declare it.

I will get in touch with the tax office.

Cheers.

Dear all,

I have got in contact with the tax office and yes, they confirm that I have to provide the earnings of my wife in the document.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.
