US citizen in CH: can I buy US mutual funds?

Thank you for any advice. Fidelity will not sell mutual funds to US citizens in CH, and Credit Suisse will not either. This seems very odd and actually unfair -- ie., I pay taxes in both places and can buy mutual funds in neither?

As an alternative to a mutual fund, Schwab continues to offer ETFs to its customers in CH. See post 20 at this link:

In short no unless you break the law. Blame the USG for their overeaching policies and legislation including FATCA, Patriot Act, etc.

Some banks, brokerages, may allow individuals with big portfolios and if you pay their high management fees, but direct low fee mutual funds are a thing of the past for persons outside good ole USA.

What law? Swiss banks want to be rid of me (after several years of FATCA harassment, including demands for copies of my FBARs, the cantonal bank already is: I sold my investment flat and paid back the mortgage); one of the major banks holds the mortgage on where I live and they're stuck with me but discouraged me from putting anything beyond current mortgage installments into the associated savings account. So I use PostFinance for current account and Fidelity, using my old US address where all my credit cards are registered, and there's never been a problem: they can (and did) check my credit history. Not sure how it will work out in the end, but in my Swiss tax return I just used the Fidelity eoy statement, as I was doing in the past when the only reason for filing a Swiss tax declaration was for wealth tax and income tax on rents.

You can buy them if you use a stateside address. For example, list your parents' address as you only address. I've been doing this for years.
