Money in bank accounts in Tax Declaration

me and my wife hold a B-permit, since we paid into our 3rd pillar account this is the first time we fill the tax form (Canton VS). When declaring fortunes, there is a a section asking about (numéraire/billet de banque) which is cash / bank note. Is this the money we have in our bank account? My question is about bank accounts, each of us have a bank acount and we have a commomn bank account as well. The amount of money in these accounts all together in total is not considerable (less than 100 KCHF). Is there a minimum amount above which we have to declare or we should just declare any amount even lower than 100 kCHF?
Thanks

Re: Money in bank accounts in Tax Declaration

You have to declare the amount of cash on all your bank accounts.

Re: Money in bank accounts in Tax Declaration

There is no minimum amount. You have to declare all bank accounts Swiss and foreign.

Are you talking about the box on page 4?
https://www.vs.ch/documents/508074/6...5-43f17838c916

That means cash. If you had cash on December 31st, you tick the box and include it in your fortune declaration.

For bank accounts you have to use Annexe 3.

Re: Money in bank accounts in Tax Declaration

You say you are on a B permit. Are you sure you need to fill in the normal tax form? I ask because this is for Swiss, C permit or B-Permit where at least one of the persons earn more than 120k a year.

If both of you are below the 120k/year, I do not think that filling in the normal tax form and submitting that will do anything. Here in Zurich there is a special form for B-permit holders (taxed at source) to declare things as child care, 3rd pillar, etc.

You need to declare all of your assets. It's a tax return.

Re: Money in bank accounts in Tax Declaration

There's a specific area for declaring your various bank accounts on the tax form. You'll need to declare the amount in each account on 31 December as well as the interest earned and the tax deducted by the bank, which you will recover.
The cash section on the tax declaration is literally the cash held in hand on 31 December. In my opinion it's a relic from the times that Swiss did all their transactions in cash and it may still be appropriate for businesses making a lot of cash transactions. For most mortals who just carry petty cash on them, it's not relevant.
In the good old days, some people used to withdraw large amounts of cash from their accounts on the 31 December and pay it back in again on 3rd January to hide it from the tax authorities. This story from my better half who in her youth worked in an accountant's office.

Since the UK & many countries don't require assets to be declared, this could be a surprise to many people on English Forum
