Best town/kanton for Pillar 2 pension?

Given that for pillar 2 pension lump sum withdrawals are subject to tax, and this is dependent on which town/kanton you live in, which is the best one, i.e. lowest tax rate. Is there an overview, or a comparison table or similar ..??

Depends on the sum involved, moving usually costs 500 CHF & expect delays & extra requirements from 2nd provider.

Remember it's withholding tax, that can be reclaimed if the sum is subject to taxation somewhere else.

Mine was in Geneva & I paid a bit more tax but probably got the money a few months quicker, the extra investment return exceeded the extra tax.

Re: Best town/kanton for Pillar 2 pension?

It depends when are you withdrawing the money.

Right before leaving Switzerland (some instituions allow it with advance notice and coordination) => you pay Steuern auf Kapitalleistungen of your municipality where you are registered.

After moving to abroad - tax at source rate of pension foundation's canton. Here's a calculator: https://www.liberty.ch/freizuegigkei...uerberechnung/ - SZ is the best choice here. But beware that your new country may want to tax the withdrawal, potentially as income! You might also be able to claim the tax at source back in many cases, again depends on your new country.

It can only be received in the UK 6 months after becoming UK resident.

If the withholding tax is reclaimed, the money has to be 'taxable' somewhere else

I didnít see the op say that he was leaving Switzerland. I interpreted his question as to where would I be taxed least if I stay in Switzerland.

I donít know of a detailled list, but postfinance have an online calculator
