Interactive Brokers, all the time! The best out there also for FX conversions.
If you don't need advanced features, their web client is easy to use for both currency conversions and general trading.
Completely agree, Interactive Brokers is by far the best I used. The mobile app is now so full-featured and easy to use that I don't understand why people keep complaining about the desktop interface when there is absolutely no need to use it unless you REALLY need to make use of extra power features... in which case then you just get used to it like the other millions of traders out there.

yes, but Trader Workstation can be a little intimidating.
Then why would you use it when the mobile app is so good?

Re: [online broker] TradeDirect or Swissquote ?

Reviving this thread, as ongoing user of TradeDirect. I've been with BCV for 7+ years, where 5 of those we were in Private Banking, so low costs, good service, etc.

Last year, we were "fired" from BCV Private Banking as we were "not using any of their services, not buying any of their funds or following advice sent by mail". Essentially, if you know what you are doing TradeDirect is painfully expensive - we went from zero custody fees to CHF 750+per year across all accounts (individual, joint, kids college fund). I hate being back-dated on contracts, and am trying to leave - lo and behold, BCV are pulling out fine print where they are forcing us to stay holding the kids' brokerage accounts hostage. We now need to appear in front of a judge and argue that keeping the kids' brokerage with BCV (their college fund) will cost each kid CHF 7,500 more until age 18 compared to Interactive Brokers, for example...

We're soon meeting in person our ex-private banking advisor, where I hope common sense will prevail - if not, I'll be spending additional money on lawyers to manage the kids' money in their best interst (and not favor BCV/TradeDirect).

If you qualify for BCV private banking - tooling and variety are excellent for buy-and-hold investors. For all other scenarios, do more research and take your money elsewhere.

I had to Google BCV. A Venezuelan bank came first. I guess you are referring to a Swiss cantonal bank…

Can you elaborate a bit on that please? Do you have a +10yr contract that binds you (your kids) until age 18?
Just being nosy

Insurance law changes per next year. Among other things the consumer will have the right to cancel after three years no matter the duration of the contract. Not sure if that applies to existing ones as well, and of course you're dealing with a bank rather than an insurance, but it may at least serve as argumentative ammunition.

What a horrible website. Switch to German, navigate to private banking, and you get a mixture of English, French, and German. Completely unprofessional, they're 20 years behind the curve.
