Credit history from old country is relevant?

Hey, i just like to ask if anyone have any information regarding what history a swiss bank will ask for from the bank of the old country. I might not have a good record there, but would that ever be a problem?

Re: Credit history from old country is relevant?

Switzerland doesn't use the credit-history system that is so popular in the US or the UK. You actually don't need any kind of credit history to open a bank account, or sign your lease. Your income statement is enough to get a credit card, open your bank account, etc.

Source: personal experience (I moved to Switzerland in 2006, and I didn't need any credit history to sign a lease, open accounts, etc). Moved to the US in 2009, and came back to Switzerland in 2011. Again, I never needed to provide credit history at all.

Nobody ever asked me about a credit history from another country. Depending on what you want to have from the bank, there may be a waiting period (a CC with some banks in the past for example).
