Capital Gains Tax - Zurich

Hi everyone,

I've recently moved to Zurich from the UK where I had a personal services company. I'm in the process of closing the company now but as I'm now a Swiss tax resident I'm trying to find out what the tax rate is for capital gains from closure of a UK limited company here in Switzerland. There's about £15,000 left in the company that I need to take out. Are there any tax specialists or anyone dealt with this sort of thing?

You dont have to pay tax here on foreign investments/income. You simply have to declare all your assets and income from foreign investments/income. ( sets your Tax Rate )

Comments:
1. CGT: Swiss cantons/ communes typically apply capital gains tax on appreciation of real property when sold.
2. Dividends: if the retained earnings are dividended to the shareholder at time of closure, this would likely be a taxable event in Switzerland.
3. Return of capital: this would not normally be a taxable event.
4. Asset tax: the net book value of the company should likely be considered in the personal assets of its Switzerland-resident shareholder.
