Paying your credit card when leaving Swiss to the EU

very confusing situation, I have a credit card with UBS, unfortunately had to use it and am paying it off as normal. I am moving back to an EU country and advised the bank previously and the UBS visa department.
UBS visa department advised that I can pay this back as normal when I move to my EU country and cancel the card in the meantime - nothing will change for me.
However the UBS branch want to block the money from my account as a deposit for the amount remaining - two conflicting pieces of advise and of course I prefer to do what the credit card department has advised so I can have a breather and move countries without financial difficulty handing over my savings.
With out judgement has anybody experienced this before? and what was the outcome? Its been a very stressful day and the fact that the branch does not call you back is becoming very frustrating.

Giving the advance warning that you were leaving alerted them to being exposed. Wait till you have departed to close accounts makes more sense.

Yet another reason to not get a UBS or CS banking package. Why why why do people always seem get a credit card and a bank account from the same people here. If you don't shop around you'll get ripped off.

That said, I would be surprised if they are allowed to block your account unless they suspect dodgy dealings.

Contact the "visa department" whatever that is and get information in writing.

If you keep your account abroad you'll probably have to pay an even bigger monthly charge.
