C-Permit and Steuererklärung

I'll be getting the C-Permit in exactly one year (September 2021) and I have a doubt about taxes.

Does somebody know how it works in terms of Steuererklärung? Will my taxes still being deducted from my monthly salary until 31st December 2021? Should I make instead the Steuererklärung only for the period from September - December 2021? Something different?

Re: C-Permit and Steuererklärung

Responses:
1. The source tax will cease to be withheld in the month following the month in which the C permit was received.
2. The entire year is to be declared on a tax return for 2021 under the ordinary tax assessment procedures. The withheld source tax is to be applied agains the taxes owed.

Re: C-Permit and Steuererklärung

All withheld taxes were refunded the moment I got married to a Swiss.

Re: C-Permit and Steuererklärung

You'll pay tax at source until you get your C permit. When you get your C permit you will no longer pay tax at source

A suggestion, open another account and move the same amount of money your employer took each month into that account. Then you will have a decent amount put aside for your bill.

At the end of the year you will complete a tax return. As normal. Money earned, against your deductions and then the tax is calculated. You will owe X amount in tax.

What you have already paid is deducted from the total and you owe the delta.

Re: C-Permit and Steuererklärung

For clarity, you stop paying tax at source as soon as you have the C-permit AND inform your employer about this, otherwise they have no way of knowing
