anyway more crazy broker stories: another broker we saw in fact signed my wife up to a different thing than she thought and its not the end of the world or anything and it comes to about 5chf extra a month, BUT get this, this guy refuses to cancel it (the insurance company says he has to send something back and its not a problem their end). he starts lying a little bit on the phone, says he doesnt know where the original contract is, says he doesnt come to zurich anymore, then hangs up. like mega wow!
Maybe letting your wife deal with agents is not a good idea... two agents to contracts....

tbh i couldnt believe it either. it was so wild! i also thought that it cant be for the money coz he'd likely get fired once it all came to light, so it seemed just so reckless.

my last post wasnt a diss to anyone at all, in fact i was saying i empathise not believing it, coz a lot of posts of ef it seems are made up and i suspect its to get more people watching reading commenting. the internet has fried all our brains, look at the facebook! no-one believes anything anymore just saying, not dissing.

1. your wife should not go to agents anymore. She's still signing stuff even after getting burned like this?
The only way you guys do this in the future, if you can't go to the broker yourself, is that she takes the contract home, you both discuss it, and then you sign it.
There is no hurry.

2. It's easy to become a broker, an easy way into money especially at the start when you can try and sell insurances to family and friends.

3. People with spending or gambling/drug abuse issues can suddenly start very brazen behaviour, stealing money or doing corrupt stuff, and sometimes they go undetected for years.

Insurance brokerage is perfect for people who are going at max speed towards a personal crash and burn.

Please report the other guy to the police so that he can be stopped. You will not get any redress as in the end you didn't suffer any damage.

Re: health insurance broker forged my signature!

great post tbh Murloc, especially the crash and burn bit. like, to start with we were like 'wtf this is incredible, this guys gonna get thrown out on his ass' but now on reflection a bit weve been saying how sales is basically one of the oldest businesses around. everyone's seen death of a salesman! and what about that film glengarry glenn ross, it's a real classic. anyway, you would expect a sizable amount of sales businesses to operate in the margins and allow their employees a bit of forgivable license. maybe they promoted him!

anyway, we called the cops and dropped the dime, as i believe it's called on the streets ... this was some days ago but they havent called back like they said they would yet. i'll call them again later tonite.

Re: health insurance broker forged my signature!

amazing update!

so the police didnt call back at all even tho i rang them twice but it turns out they might have been doing me a favour! coz get this, i rang a lawyer and wow what an interesting call. he said he gets similar calls every week. he said the insurance broker hussle is high pressure. he says he doesn't bother taking a case unless there's at least 100,000 chf on the table and also, what about this: he said that if i did call the cops on them, the broker in question SUISSEPOOL btw, might well sue back and get their lawyer involved. then i would be in the spotlight with lawyer bills coming. thats what he said.

SUISSEPOOL

Speaking of lawsuits...name and shame might feel good but it's not always a smart idea.

A bit surprised by this post considering this specific behaviour has been discussed also in national television back in 2018. I don't know how much money they make but I doubt it's a few franks, and these "brokers" (to distinguish from real brokers) are horrible people but also as smart as their victims so I doubt they always know what they are doing. What is also surprising is that it is resurfacing, meaning insurance companies have not changed the way they work except cancelling contracts with more ease in these cases.
And not only 2018, it's an ongoing subject/problem, I'm talking 25 years and more.

While you have a point, Suissepool is already known for it's mo. And on internet. Like here. But also how they cheat on employees, (just close the window that tells you to sign up and the article is readable). Beobachter does not mention names if theiy're insecure. Scroll down to "Büromobiliar auf eigene Kosten gekauft" but there is more to the case.
OP is in "good company" as we say here and I see no reason for not mentioning the name.

I didn't see this thread before today. OP you got away easily it seems with all the undesired contracts cancelled. It is an unwritten rule here NEVER to work with agencies when it comes to insurances and - while it was a huge hassle in the old days - it is rather easy these days to do research on the internet, get offers etc. Yeah it's a hassle and time consuming to compare them all but as you noticed, involving the agent is worse.

What is it with your wife and those agencies?
Get it all done yourself and tell her, everything is solved and wonderful and to never talk to an agent again.

And I got the insurance-info for 2021 yesterday (mine is dropping in price, what a miracle!!! And this after corona? Amazing) and that means they're all gonna start calling you all again within the next weeks. So beware!
