Increasing credit card "limit" temporarily

Hi all,
I need to temporarily increase my credit card limit for a transaction.

With UBS, this can be done simply by transferring money to the card. This increases the amount of money available on the card, which can be greater than the limit.

I was wondering whether this "trick" works with any credit card, specifically swisscard ones?

Re: Increasing credit card "limit" temporarily

My experience with my credit card provider here was very good: I just called them that I would need to make a bigger purchase and need to increase the limit to 1.5x the normal one. They said that was no problem as one-time. We agreed they would increase the limit for 1 week so that the transaction can go through.
Super smooth.

Super smooth.

Same thing with me, however, they increased it permanently. They did it while I was actually at the shop, so took about 5 minutes. (Credit Suisse)

Re: Increasing credit card "limit" temporarily

I was looking to avoid calling since it's a paid line, but it might be worth asking to increase my limit permanently at this point.
