Depending on what the job was it could be that you should charge Irish VAT but I don't know the specific rules.

I don't think it works like that under the special rules but nevermind. VAT isn't always as simple as you think it should be.

When I was a private practice lawyer in London there was only ever VAT on bills sent to uk clients.

EU VAT is slightly different, if you get a VAT no from an EU VAT reg company you don't charge VAT.

For Swiss VAT, the seller needs to determine whether the transaction was the delivery of a product (Lieferung) or the performance of a service (Dienstleistung). If the sale is determined to be an export delivery of a product (Lieferung), it is likely that it is not VATable. If the sale is that of the export of a service (Dienstleistung), the type of service needs to be classified to determine if the transaction is VATable.
