| | Accounts blocked due to unpaid tax
Hello
I have a friend whose all banks accounts were blocked and he have around 120 k that were profits of the investments made .
However ,the canton sent him a message asking him to pay around 40 k So he had problems in cash and his credit history is not that good as he missed payments so is there a way to get the 40 k as loan and then get his account unblocked as it need around 2 month to get unblocked .
Thanks

You need to start hanging out with better quality people, not clowns who’s accounts have been frozen for money laundering.

If the government organised for his account to be blocked. Surely he can organise for them to authorise a 40K payment out of those blocked funds? Unless they’ve totally confiscated all of that money forever?

Your friend is a premier league fool.
The canton don’t just rock up at the bank and freeze assets, there’s process to follow which involves lots of letters, a few knocks at the door and a court judgement. As your friend seemingly sat back with 120K in his account watched all this explode in front of him and didn’t lodge any objection, or make any attempt to pay he’s now going to have to sit back and watch the canton sort his mess out at a glacial pace. I hope he stocked up on pot noodles and toilet roll before the freeze order.

Talk with the tax men. In the end they just want your very best: Your money. It is usually possible to negotiate a payment plan (Note the "this is NOT the whole story" disclaimer). Interest rate charged by the tax office is much more favorable than the one of any credit.

Doesn´t have to be the Kanton, it can also be the bank because of transactions that are considered abnormal for that account, money laundering suspicion, transactions from sanctioned countries etc etc

The first thing that happens is that the accounts are frozen. There are very strict rules that disallow communication with the suspect until the money is secured, otherwise they'd simply withdraw it and do a runner.
Is anyone else suspicious of the OP also having a thread on needing to travel abroad urgently??

Then he says he visited CH as a student and had to pay 7000K tax because he withdrew money from an FX account. Then asks for a Covid test but wants to do it in Vaud or Geneva (while living in Bern although location says Vaud) and now the question about the friend whose accounts have been frozen.
There are too many dodgy goings-on around this OP.

Well, this is the consequence of ignoring probably dozens of letters than request tax payment, reminders, late payments, announcements that tax authorities will ask a court to freeze assets if not paid by certain deadline......this is everything but a surprise. Considering how slow are things in Switzerland, I'd bet it has been more than a year after the first payment reminder arrived. During all that time nothing was done.
Anyway, now there's interest to fix the issue. Good idea to talk to a lawyer to get general counseling. Maybe there are other procedures running against him that can make things even worse. It would be good if a lawyer raises a white flag to authorities so things don't get worse than now.

@bcpar
This is a quote from one of your other threads: | Quote: | | | | | I don't know what is going on with the situation entirely, and the marriage/living with brother thing I don't know how to take either, but I also see that there is a language barrier and English is not your first language.
It takes a lot of effort to explain all the details in another language, and you may not want to give your your financial info. | | | | | I agree that - no matter what else is going on - there is a language barrier.
I remember how frustrating it was when I could speak only a basic present tense.
@bcpar
This forum has quite a lot of helpful members. Some have qualifications and/or knowledge about how things work in Switzerland. Maybe someone could advise you.
However, I've now read all your posts in all your threads, and I find them confusing.
Perhaps, if you start from the beginning again, and write step by step, very clearly, you will be able to get help here on this forum.

That is not trolling it is just posting random meaningless stuff.
