Taxation - 2020 - BaselLand

Hello,

As per the basel land tax rules, the canton tax must be paid by end of September, and the Geminde tax by end of October for that particular year.
(Eg: for year 2020, the due dates are 30-09-2020, 31-10-2020).

In this regard, I have following questions:

1. I heard that because of the COVID-19, the deadlines have been relaxed till 31st of December, 2020, is it true ?

2. Incase, if it is paid with a delay of 4 days ie 04-Jan-2021. how does the delayed tax is calculated ? Is it 6% calculated for 4 days or 1 month or 1 year ? Or I can simply be let off, as the delay is hardly 0 working days and any relaxations wrt COVID-19 for delayed payment exists as well ?

cheers

It is still due by the old days but interest has been reduced to 0% till the end of the year. https://www.baselland.ch/politik-und...steuern/zinsen

The interest rate is per annum and is usually calculated for the exact payment day(s). For 4 days you will have to pay 4/365 * 6% = 0.06575% If you pay over a period of time in multiple installments interest will be calculated for the respective outstanding amounts.

In addition in the following BL communes tax is due on September 30rd as well:
Anwil, Arboldswil, Bennwil, Birsfelden, Blauen, Bretzwil, Brislach, Buckten, Burg i. L., Diepflingen, Dittingen, Duggingen, Eptingen, Grellingen, Häfelfingen, Hölstein, Itingen, Känerkinden, Läufelfingen, Lampenberg, Langenbruck, Laufen, Lauwil, Liedertswil, Liesberg, Liestal, Lupsingen, Nenzlingen, Niederdorf, Nusshof, Oberdorf, Oltingen, Ramlinsburg, Rickenbach, Roggenburg, Röschenz, Rümlingen, Schönenbuch, Thürnen, Titterten, Wahlen, Wintersingen, Wittinsburg, Ziefen und Zwingen.
In all others check with your communes tax office.

Re: Taxation - 2020 - BaselLand

Thanks a lot for your reply - aSwissInTheUS

For Cantonal tax, it is clear.

However, regarding the Gemeinde tax, I see that some of the municipalities are not listed in your mesage. So, what is the deadline for those municipalities, that are not part of your list ?

I assume, the same calculation goes - ie to pay the delayed payment interest for 4 days ?

Cheers,

You have to contact that communes tax office's website or call them. Also the interest might be different.

Usually and very most likely it follows the same rule. Anything else would be very surprising.
