Tax in St. Gallen canton

Hi all,

I am an EU expat living in Switzerland (St. Gallen canton) and I am thinking about moving (change my municipality "Gemeinde").
So for the first time since I came to Switzerland I started reading a little bit about taxation and I got confused.

So this is my situation.
- earning less than 120K CHF
- B permit holder
- married (wife unemployed)
- tax withhold is applied
- currently no 3rd pillar

If I understand correctly, because I am in a withholding tax system, I can move inside the canton wherever I want, and my monthly salary (netto) should stay the same since I pay cantonal average for the Gemeindesteuer.

Am I correct in the assumption above?

Thank you for the help.

As far as I understand that is correct.

Re: Tax in St. Gallen canton

Correct. Of course, if you are close to 5 years and expect to have C permit soon, then the municipality matters regardless of how much you make.
