The party may soon be over I reckon for banks in this respect. If you have a need to withdraw CHF from LU at an ATM then that's quite a specific need and 0.95% might be ok. On larger sums and with respect to currency conversions, that's actually a really high spread.

One of the great things about Interactive Brokers is that you can trade currencies at the interbank rate at a cost of $2. There is no spread.
I’m talking about an ATM stocked with foreign currency: USD, GBP and CHF... I find that an acceptable spread for the effort.

My bank (ZKB) quoted an annual fee of over CHF1000! I asked what I got for that and they said “security”. I said the security is in the shares not the bank.
That must have been many years ago.

I can't remember off the top of my head how much they charge now but it's definitely under 100 CHF.

Yes, every major branch has an atm with foreign currency. The ones near EU institutions also has Swedish, Norwegian and what not...

Would you please elaborate on this? Probably they borrow your shares for somebody else anyway, so was thinking it is logical to have some specified limit for protected assets For example:

https://www1.interactivebrokers.com/...p?f=2334&p=acc

Client securities accounts at Interactive Brokers LLC are protected by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation ("SIPC") for a maximum coverage of $500,000 (with a cash sublimit of $250,000).

I was thinking if in my life this happens and I reach 500k, I would need to search for another broker to distribute holdings.
Not anymore, as I understand EU accounts will be moved from UK to Hungary with max EUR 20,000 cash protection.
Personally, I am not thrilled at all but mainly not for the lower cash protection...

Where do I keep my socks?

It depends on whether it’s before washing or after ...
You're definitely not the only one who keeps reading this thread title "Where do you keep your socks"? In the drawer, if they're clean.

Before vacuum cleaning your rooms, look for the socks first, they're hiding in the most peculiar places...I should dedicate a new thread to where socks go, when they go, and what to do with "single" socks. It's not like we have too many people with only one leg around....

It would be interesting to hear where are the lowest fees in case you trade your socks with other EFfers.

My little boy always needs fresh socks. It’s investment in his future.
