ZHPrivateTax - DA-1 won't find funds

Where do you declare US stocks held e.g. with IB?

I would have thought in the DA-1 Wertschriftenverzeichnis but if I try to enter an ISIN or Valoren number there, it just says not found. Searching by name doesn't work either - search for "Vanguard" and apparently there's only one result.

But entering it into the regular Wertschriftenverzeichnis section seems to work fine.

Is this just me - am I holding it wrong - or should I just manually enter the information into the DA-1 section?

D.

Re: ZHPrivateTax - DA-1 won't find funds

Using the standalone Private Tax:

On the Wertschriftenverzeichnis, click on a new box at left, which brings up Wertschriftenkategorien
Select on Anlagefonds and next to Gesellschaft/Titel, type in Vanguard
This returned 328 different Vanguard funds with ISINs
Select the appropriate fund

They are really not bothered if you leave it blank.

On mine (BS) if there's no valoren number match I enter it manually with the "rubrik" "DA-1". (but I never get anything for it as it's never enough).

Re: ZHPrivateTax - DA-1 won't find funds

First time I filled in the DA-1, I was super careful. I even called them and have them add a fund in the system for me (which they did). I then received their own calculation, which was close to mine, with a letter explaining why the difference (which I didn't bother to understand in detail because the difference was minimal).

The second year I was a bit sloppier. For some positions I simply entered the total, and attached the statements. I then received their own calculation, which was again close to mine, with the same letter explaining the difference.

I didn't believe fatmanfilms at first, but he was right. They don't really care about the details (maybe if I had 3 more zeros at the end of the statement....)

They only once corrected me, I appealed 3 out of their 4 corrections & they accepted I was correct on all 4 points even through I did leave a figure out so was only correct on 3.
