I'd live in VD and work in GE. I believe the taxes are much lower that way?
Probably not tbh - although rent would be much lower.

Marginally lower, not much. Difference will be negligible if you have to commute every day and pay transport (unless of course you pay hundreds less for your apartment, which is cheapoer in Vaud, smaller cities).

Re: Net salary calculation in Geneva

Use this calculator, it is fairly accurate (maybe 150-300 CHF difference, depends on your commune in canton). https://www.lohncomputer.ch/ And maybe compare taxation in each commune and canton, even without moving far away, you can choose your place 2 streets further and pay hundreds of tax less each year. It really makes a difference https://taxjungle.ch/ch-en

I would however try to move to German part - taxes in Geneva are SICK, just plain sick for singles and people without children.

Re: Net salary calculation in Geneva

Whilst health insurance is obligatory, it isn't deducted at source, so your take home pay in Switzerland is differently structured from the take home pay in most other countries. Indeed once you have a permanent residence permit (C-permit), your tax won't be deducted at source either.

Re: Net salary calculation in Geneva

Hi, I saw that Single one has more withholding tax than Married.
When this discount will be done and who do this?

Because when I start the process for Permit B / Visa I was single.
But now I got married, and the Permit is not finished yet.
What I need to do? It's just inform the employer to discount less?

Assuming you are already living and working in GE, announce this to the tax dept as well as your employer payroll team.

https://www.ge.ch/annoncer-changemen...ion-aux-impots

If you are paying tax at source, your employer will recalculate your tax deduction using the published tax tables. You find these here :

This thread reads Geneva not SG

If you are not yet working in CH, you can inform your employer on your family status when you start working so they can deduct the right amount of tax at source.
