Net salary calculation in Geneva

Good morning all

I am planning moving to the city of Geneva soon, and I would appreciate your help. If I get a salary of 110000CHF in Geneva, what is the approximate cash on hand that I'll get every month (12 salaries per year) after paying all the taxes and inssurances? Just an estimation. I'm 32 and single, not religious.

I mean, how much cash will I have available approximately after taxes and inssurances. I trust more the in the words of real people than just calculators of many threads.

If that was true, you would have at least attempted to do the calculation yourself and then ask for verification here.

6500 CHF or so after health insurance should be more or less on the money.

Re: Net salary calculation in Geneva

Suggests 6557.80 CHF after tax, social security and pension fund. Factor in another 300-400 for health care takes it to 6200 or so.

Back up to 6500 if you include your pillar 2 contributions (which I was including in my post above as it is ultimately yours).

OP should look for a job in Zurich, he would take home 7156 a month living there.

Thanks for the calculator hahaha

It shows similar results to the others that I got previouly with, 6500 CHF. Less the inssurances it could be 6000 maybe?

As HickvonFrick said 6500 for both things, I guess they would be in that range (6000-6500). Am I right?

"Ultimately" is not "cash in hand" though

If you want to do it proper:

Look up your tax-at-source rate for GE on the canton's website
Deduct 5.3% (or so) for AHV (state pension)
Deduct 1.1% (or so) for ALV (unemployment insurance)
Deduct pension fund contribution (see your contract)
Look up health insurance premium on Comparis

Re: Net salary calculation in Geneva

This one has a rather low pillar 2 contribution. It might be right and correct for the ETH, but it might underestimate the real contribution based on the company's pension plan.

Do most Swiss pillar 2 funds allow people to raise or lower the employee contribution on demand from the employee?

Mine certainly does.

How about rent? Unless OP has a place to leave for free. Aparment rent can also be significant in Geneva.

Re: Net salary calculation in Geneva

I'd live in VD and work in GE. I believe the taxes are much lower that way?

Re: Net salary calculation in Geneva

Remember that take-home pay does not include health insurance, count 400-500 CHF/month/person.

That's a bit much - more like 320-360.

Assura is 319.20 according to comparis. Granted, they don't have the best reputation, but a 32 year old single person probably doesn't care. There are options with other insurers around the 340-360 mark,

I know the rent is high, but I wanted to know the other concepts because inssurances are something obligatory, and in my view is like taxes. Because in my home country the net salary already considers healthcare. So I can compare in the same terms.

If I know how much I have after tax and inssurance I know how much I can spend in the other things and adapt.
