Taxes for something from ebay.de

I want to order a phone from ebay.de and I was wondering if I'll have to pay custom taxes for the item? The price of it is about 700 CHF. I used to order stuff from amazon, and never had to pay any import taxes but the price was never that high.

Re: Taxes for something from ebay.de

It depends. I’ve bought stuff from Amazon, like my Kindle, and they sorted the taxes out, i had nothing to pay!

According to U.K. Amazon, they sort it all out. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/cus...deId=201910940

Sorry, total read it as Amazon not EBay!

Re: Taxes for something from ebay.de

It depends on the seller on eBay.
Some of them offer the ‘border free’ option where they sort out the taxes etc for you and some of them don’t.

It says in the Ebay auction if import duties are already paid or not (usually the global shipping option that lists shipping costs and then import charges below it). If it doesn't list those things then you will likely need to pay the import taxes during the delivery process.

Re: Taxes for something from ebay.de

You will pay VAT and the courier's admin / processing fees.
When you order something on Amazon that is shipped by Amazon ( and not by the seller ), the price includes the Swiss VAT.

Re: Taxes for something from ebay.de

Most likely, for consumer electronics it's rarely convenient given the similar prices in Switzerland.
