Selling on Ricardo.ch (RE: VATS and tax

Hello,
Recently, I've been buying some items from Ricardo.ch and I am thinking about selling on it as well.

Something that concerns me is the tax. The VATS rate should be 7.7% for the items that I want to sell and I know there is a fee to pay to Ricardo. Now the questions is how and who do I pay the VATS to after sale?

I have a 5 year B permit and my employer pays my income tax so I'm don't quite know how to deal with this.

If you have experience or a useful reference, please let me know.
Thanks
-SJL

VAT liability starts from 100'000 CHF revenue per year. Until your shop is large enough to hit that target, forget about it - you neither have to pay it on your sales, nor will you be able to offset VAT paid by your suppliers in any way.

Thank you Spark. What about my income tax? Will I have to declare it somehow? Also, do you happen to have a reference to the 100'000CHF liability? It'll just comfort me to have something written legally.

Which income tax? Are you planning to sell masses of new stuff you are producing/importing or a few old second hand things of yours? If the latter then it does not matter, it's not considered income.

I am not importing anything new or in large quantity. I am just selling things I already own that I don't have use for anymore. Things like an old watch, camera and etc.

If you really want, declare your profits (revenue - costs) on your income tax declaration in some miscellania box. Or don't. They are not going to find out if you're a small fish. And even if they do, it's really not a big deal in Switzerland to have a little amnesia when it comes to taxation.

Selling things from own household is tax free, and furthermore you're selling them at a loss compared to acquisition price, no? There's no profit in sight here, nothing to tax, and you ain't getting any tax back on account of this loss. As for VAT, it's being paid long ago when you originally bought the stuff and you ain't getting it back either. If you really thought you owed any tax here, you seem to have zero clue about how businesses and taxes work.

Then forget about tax and all. You are not making profit or income here.
