Confused about how many taxes due
Hello,
So my situation in brief... This is my second year as a taxpayer in CH.
Last year I had my taxes done by KPMG as it was part of my relocation package. They did a great job, I got 8k CHF back. Super!
This year no KPMG support, so I went to another consultant here in Geneva.
They did all their job and in the end they tell me: this year you will get 2k CHF back. Well it's not 8k but ok.
Now I have received from the Cantonal Office two communications:
- One in early march called "Borderau Provisoire" that said that I still owed in taxes 1k CHF. My accountant told me "don't worry, it's sent out before they check your tax declaration, ignore it"
- Now I got a new one in mid-April saying that I no longer need to pay 1k CHF in taxes but 500CHF. It's called "Borderau" without "Provisoire" so I guess is the final one?
I'm confused because my tax return filled by the accountant showed that was the Government that owed me 2k, but now they say I still owe them 500CHF.
Last year KPMG handled all the communications with the Canton so I just sent all my documents and got the fat check back of 8k. Now I get all the comms from the Canton and I'm confused.
The deadline to pay the 500 franks is mid May so I need to understand soon what to do.
I wrote to my accountant but in the meantime I wanted to see if anyone can tell me what they think.
