Living in UK but Job in Switzerland

I've been offered a role in Zurich with a total package of 250,000 CHF and I'm currently living in the UK.

The company have said that they don't mind me WFH 100% of the time (UK or Switzerland), however, I have to maintain a presence in Switzerland. My plan is to rent a studio apartment and spend the vast majority of my time in the UK. I'll go over to Switzerland occasionally to attend meetings maybe once a month.

Does anyone know what the tax implications would be with this setup? Do the Swiss and UK tax authorities need to communicate with each other in order to collect my taxes? What are the pitfalls in such a setup?

Seems like a VERY expensive solution... UK taxes are insane compared to the Swiss (around 10-15% in CH versus ~40% in UK)....

I would much rather stay in Switzerland and travel to the UK once per month...

I have never seen CH taxes 10-15% unless you have some special deals with the Canton and that also is if you are a multi-millionaire.....I would say rule of thumb with that kind of salary is 30-35% in CH

How do you get to 35%?

That sounds insanely high for CH....

Probably thinking of payroll services costs. Or possibly marginal tax rate.

Basis what I know people have been paying for some years now.... ;-)
But seriously, look at this link. very rough calculation but helpful. Also depending on individual circumstances, will vary significantly (Marital Status, Religious Persuasion etc.). Also dont miss out the Wealth Tax on worldwide income which is applied in CH.

Re: Living in UK but Job in Switzerland

If you spend the vast majority of your time in the UK, you will be resident in the UK and pay tax there.

Your company has to mind about your tax residence for payroll purposes so they pay the right taxes etc to the right government.

Did the company say what they mean by "a presence" in Switzerland? That doesn't sound very clear - do they actually mean "be resident", which would make more sense from a tax and employment viewpoint.

Perfectly possible in Zug or the right parts of Schwyz without any special deals.
