TWINT QR code - how to get one

I might be missing the obvious here.. But do i really need to register as a business to get a QR code sticker for people to pay me using TWINT?

Is there no way to just display that QR code on my phone and have people scan it with theirs?

You know let's say I'm selling hot-dogs or lemonade..Just a one off, It would be nice to not exchange phone numbers with everybody, just have them scan the code..

But it appears it's only available via a physical sticker after registering as a business? No other way?

Maybe you could scan one and read the raw data to see how it is constructed and see whether you can make one yourself.

Re: TWINT QR code - how to get one

It seems that they do want officially registered companies only (they will check Zefix.ch).

As a business they will scoop 1.3% of the sale.

I understand that you do not want to give your personal number to everyone but why don't you go for a "pay as you go" or really cheap monthly plan and use this phone number for your TWINT transactions. This way you do not have to give your personal number out all of the time.

It's really just for the convenience and speed, not super worried about the phone number.. It's for the wife actually she has a hobby of doing art on wood, pyrographie . She's not a business and only occasionally sells the stuff at small village markets or similar ..

So it's really just the convenience of scanning rather than people noting the number and 'adding to contacts' etc. A couple of minutes I know, but still.

We hoped there was simply a way to display the QR code on screen and accept a payment .. but seems not.

I looked into this before. It really seems to be this way.

The easy phone number transfer is used to aquire users. The convenience of the sticker costs your business 1.3% and requires you to register as a business.

mmm, maybe I'm mistaken but the usual procedure with Twint is:

- scan code
- the data of the person you're paying is displayed
- are you sure you want to pay ___ CHF to this restaurant/parking/shop?
- slide to confirm

Indeed, it would be a bit dumb for the buyer if the data of the seller were not displayed. I guess what I see on the phone when I pay a business is the name from the commerce register. For non-business, the phone.

PS. you don't have to create a new contact to pay with twint. just select "next" after the amount is introduced. then enter the super long Swiss phone number. end

Re: TWINT QR code - how to get one

You can make a QR code with your number, at least than people don't have to type it in anymore.
But I guess what it is done with it, is a question of each individual phone.

But as we've seen here from @jazh.. To get that code one must be a registered business and then registster with TWINT as said business and give TWINT 1.3% of the transaction which used the code.

Non business users don't get the QR code so must just use it with phone numbers.

It's not a big drama for the tiny number of transaction I'm talking about, it was just a nice to have.

Re: TWINT QR code - how to get one

I wonder if you can form something like twint://+41791234567 that would launch in the Twint App. Let me ask someone....

Re: TWINT QR code - how to get one

OK, twint:// will open the App, it's one of two URIs that will. I am trying to work out how you can issue a command and number too - this might be a nice URL (NB: to launch with the device camera, not scan QR code to pay)

Re: TWINT QR code - how to get one

I need to reach further as it is not clear from the config files on iOS or Android how the URI scheme can be manipulated to start a payment from outside Twint (as this method would be).

I recommend you play with possible commands and switches that it might interpret.....
