Settling VAT for overseas purchase before delivery

I recently ordered a custom bicycle from a shop in the UK (it was impossible to get what I was looking for in Switzerland). The UK shop doesn't normally deal with overseas orders, so aren't very clued up on Swiss VAT arrangements. Is there a way for me to settle the outstanding Swiss VAT before the bike is shipped? Otherwise I'll have to pay the CHF 20 administration fee and, much more importantly, ±3% of the value of the bike to the courier (±CHF 200 ).
