Looks like he has parents and they are well alive:
He deffo has some kind of friends
You can't get a job at a major bank without being socially acceptable.
Its very possible to get into the financial troubles as he got now, but for a person of his background (looking at his posts):
1. borrow 450chf from friends or family
2. use American credit card to get cash (he is 24 y.o. has US driving license, good education, 99.99% he has a credit card) | | | | |
People use the word friend for anyone and everyone nowadays.
People having living relatives is no indication of the quality of the relationships, nor how frequently they're in contact.
I mentioned a story in my previous post about someone I know with living relatives who he has no contact with, because he'd rather they think he's dead, than that they know the despair he's in.
A large majority of people working in banking or working as solicitors or working as consultants or working in some sort of hierarchical role like military or police with antiquated norms can't function properly in day-to-day situations by-and-large without extreme reactions and crippling anxiety. It's why they have to be robotically trained to perform, and fall apart when they're left to their own devices.
A person with a decent homelife, an interest in having a fulfilling private life away from work, someone involved in their community helping others, and with an interest in their sleep, eating, use of electronic gadgets and exercise patterns, someone who's good at enforcing boundaries and being genuine when they speak to others, someone who doesn't chase money at the expense of their peace and connection to others, isn't what they look for in such jobs by-and-large.
Mental instability, stalking, mental illness, addiction, suicidal ideation, domestic abuse, ranting endlessly on the internet whilst maintaining a facade of being a good person in real-life, hoarding, stealing... All more prevalent than you'd guess in functioning adults you see in cushy jobs with fancy offices, sipping chai lattes as they receive money for old rope.
The accoutrements are a distraction from having to live with oneself and deal with the consequences of one's behaviour.

Whether it's a large majority or not, I don't know. But yes, I've definitely met people as you describe, with many needs and a lot of pain and confusion, and many are only just coping with managing to seem as if they are coping.

Dear OP,
Even if we get grumpy, stick around, you will always find support and help.
I suggest you look at swisscaution.ch for a small sum per year (circa 300 CHF) they advance the amount of your rental guarantee. This will free up your deposit and get you out of financial difficulty.
If you don’t want to do the army because you’ve just started a new job and are new here, maybe you can contact the military and push it off by a year. I think university students do this during their studies.
Take care, everything is going to be ok

Theres a difference between people being mean just because they can on the net and a situation that makes people concerned (especially parents) and react.

What is this...An International Groan Day?
Obsessive groaning will make people realize that you are angry, yes. But isn't well looked at here. And - those who treat OP unkindly, that too is not looked at well.
Thanks, guys. (Can I still say guys? Don't want to sound...old school). |

Well, I have a feeling he does not want people to feel unwelcome. I guess - I can illustrate it better with an experience, once I was on a date with somebody really charming and smart, but who was on a mission to correct absolutely everything and everybody. Sometimes some people (noobs) can be sensitive.
Groaning is also not necessary to express an opinion, so I agree with you. Anyone can be sensitive to that, so it is logical to expect the same courtesy to oldies as to newbies.

It's a bit like if I invite somebody to my home and the person arrives "hi karly, thanks for inviting me for dinner". I'd not be amused.
